Application Steps
  1. Login at Cal State Apply and set up your profile

  2. Add program by searching for "interaction design and interactive art"

  3. Select Cal State East Bay review your selection and continue

  4. Complete all four sections/quadrants

  5. Personal Information (Release Statement, Biographic Information, Contact Information, Citizenship/Residency Information, Race & Ethnicity, Other Information, Financial and Parental Information)

  6. Academic History (Colleges Attended, Standardized Tests, GPA Entries)

  7. Supporting Information(Professional Employment experiences)

  8. Program Materials (Questions, Documents, Recommendations)

    1. Portfolio (REQUIRED): Website or PDF 5 to 10 relevant works. All work must be original in fabrication and concept. Applicants are required to indicate their role if the submission is a result of a group project.

      IMPORTANT: Any works submitted that were influenced by another artist, such as master copies or pop-culture references, must be accompanied by proper citation!

    2. Statement of Purpose (REQUIRED): You can find the questions under "admission statement" in the application. Each response should be limited to 300 words. Please ensure that your responses are free of spelling and grammar errors.

    3. CV/Resume (REQUIRED): Personal resume and/or Curriculum Vitae.

    4. Unofficial Transcripts (REQUIRED), translations and evaluations as part of your program application

      IMPORTANT: You will still need to request an OFFICAL transcript to be sent to the university..

    5. Two letters of recommendation (REQUIRED) from people familiar with your academic preparedness and ability to succeed in a graduate program. At least one of the letters must be an academic reference. IMPORTANT: You can choose to have them sent directly to the graduate program and opt out of attaching them to this section. By selecting "I am not adding any recommendations." If you are adding letters of recommendation, select "Add Graduate Program Recommendations." If you proceed by selecting recommendations, the application is not processed until the letters of recommendation have been received by the university. It's your responsibility to make sure your letters are received on time.

Admission Dates
We only accept applications for each Fall Semester

  • We accept applications starting October 1

  • Application submission must be launched by May 1

  • Transcripts must be received by June 1

  • CSUEB will evaluate your application only after official transcripts have been received

  • The IXDIA program will evaluate your application once you have submitted your application on Cal State Apply

  • The program cannot admit you until the university has approved all the documents

Admission Requirements

  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 semester units of relevant undergraduate work,

  • A portfolio of work reflecting the applicant’s talents and abilities in digital and interactive media,

  • Evidence of professional experience in relevant fields,

  • TOEFL or IELTS (scores),

  • NO GRE needed.

Document Guidelines
As required by our university, accreditation officials, and California law, your admission is not complete until we receive and verify all:

  • Official transcripts/mark sheets

  • Proof that you earned a diploma and/or degree, if applicable

  • Official English proficiency test scores

Proof of your diploma or degree can be either indicated on your transcripts or on a separate degree certificate.
